This Privacy Policy governs the collection, use, maintenance, and disclosure of information collected from users (referred to as "Participant", "User", or "You") of the Gujarat Gyan Guru Quiz 2026 (G3Q 2026) mobile application (referred to as the "App").

The App is developed and maintained by Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat (the "Technology Partner") on behalf of the Higher and Technical Education Department, Government of Gujarat (the "Organizing Authority").

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the personal information required to authenticate participants, categorize quiz levels, evaluate results, award prizes, and generate certificates.

A. Information You Provide Directly

  • Identity and Contact Data: Full name, mobile telephone number, email address, date of birth, and gender.
  • Academic and Demographic Data: Category selection (School Student [Class 9–12], College/University Student, or General Citizen), Name of School/College/Institution, District, Taluka, and Municipal Corporation / Ward.
  • Prize Disbursal & Verification Data (For Winners Only): For winners entitled to cash prizes under the official reward framework, we collect verification details including Bank Account Number, IFSC Code, Account Holder Name, and Government-issued Identity verification (e.g., student identity card or other official identity proof) strictly to process Direct Bank Transfers (DBT).

B. Information Collected Automatically

  • Quiz Activity Data: Quiz start/end timestamps, questions served, selected responses, score tallies, completion duration, and digital certificate generations.
  • Device and Technical Telemetry: Device manufacturer, model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, IP address, and crash/performance logs (collected via standard diagnostic tools for platform reliability and fraud prevention).
  • Ephemeral Audio Data (Microphone): If you utilize voice input in the G3Q AI Assistant, audio is converted to text in real time and discarded immediately. It is not recorded, stored, or linked to your user identity.

2. How We Use Collected Information

Your data is processed strictly for legitimate administrative and educational objectives:

  • Authentication: Verifying user identity via One-Time Password (OTP) on your registered mobile number.
  • Quiz Delivery & Personalization: Routing appropriate category-level questions based on your academic grade, district, and taluka using our automated quiz curation engine.
  • Evaluation & Leaderboard: Calculating weekly results, preventing unfair quiz attempts, and publishing official merit lists.
  • Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): Transmitting financial details of verified winners to government-authorized payment gateways/treasury systems for cash prize disbursements.
  • AI Assistance: Providing automated contextual explanations and answering participant inquiries via our integrated G3Q AI Assistant. No personal user profile data is utilized to train external public foundation AI models.
  • Certificate Issuance: Rendering personalized, verifiable digital participation and winner certificates.

3. Data Protection, Security, and Storage

  • Data Localization: All participant data, quiz logs, and verification records are hosted within secure, MeitY-empanelled cloud data centers located physically inside the territory of the Republic of India.
  • Encryption Standards: All network transmissions between the App and our backend servers are secured using industry-standard TLS/HTTPS protocols (encryption in transit). Sensitive financial and identity records are encrypted at rest using AES-256 standards.
  • Access Control: Access to participant data is restricted to authorized personnel managing the G3Q initiative under strict role-based permissions and non-disclosure obligations.

4. Data Sharing and Third-Party Disclosures

We do not sell, rent, trade, or commercialize your personal data. We disclose information only under the following conditions:

  • Organizing Authority: Shared directly with the Higher and Technical Education Department, Government of Gujarat for validation, audit, and official prize recognition.
  • Service Providers: Shared with authorized technical vendors operating infrastructure services (such as transactional SMS gateway providers for OTP delivery and cloud storage hosts) strictly bounded by data processing agreements.
  • Banking Partners: Transmitted securely to designated public sector/scheduled banks or government treasury portals to execute Direct Benefit Transfers for prize winners.
  • Legal Obligations: Disclosed where required by valid law, legal proceedings, court summons, or regulatory directives issued by statutory authorities.

5. Children and Minor Privacy

The App is designed for students across schools (Classes 9 through 12) and universities:

  • Participants under the age of 18 are presumed to participate with the knowledge, consent, and supervision of their parent, legal guardian, or school administration.
  • We do not serve third-party commercial advertisements, track behavior across external apps, or build behavioral marketing profiles on minor participants.

6. Data Retention and Account Deletion

  • Retention Period: User accounts and transaction logs are maintained for the active operational duration of the G3Q 2026 event cycle and necessary government audit periods, after which identifiable data is securely archived or anonymized.
  • Account and Data Deletion: In accordance with Google Play Developer and Apple App Store policies, participants have the right to request the deletion of their registered account and personal data.
    • In-App: Navigate to Profile → Settings → Request Account Deletion.
    • Web Request: Submit an account removal ticket through our official deletion URL at https://quiz.g3q.ai/account-delete-request
    • Email Request: Email our support desk at support@g3q.ai with your registered mobile number and full name. Requests are verified and processed within 15 working days, subject to legal verification requirements for prize disbursements.

7. User Rights

Subject to applicable Indian data protection laws, you possess the right to:

  1. Review and rectify erroneous personal details in your user profile.
  2. Request a summary of personal information processed by the platform.
  3. Withdraw consent for non-essential processing, subject to event eligibility constraints.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

The Organizing Authority and Technology Partner reserve the right to amend this Privacy Policy to reflect platform updates, regulatory updates, or policy changes. Any revisions will be accompanied by an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this document and notified through the App's notification feed.
